While a human trafficking task force met for its annual forum Wednesday, some of its team members were rescuing a victim of the crime.
A young woman being forced to have sex with men in a Kissimmee hotel called the National Human Trafficking Hotline. She wanted to get away before her pimp returned, said Tomas Lares, co-founder and chairman of the Greater Orlando Human Trafficking Task Force.
“She’s being helped as we speak,” Lares said at the 5th Annual Central Florida Anti-Human Trafficking Joint Forum, held at Valencia College.
About 220 victims advocates, social workers and law-enforcement officers attended.
